Thursday the 28th January it was time to move on
to Coffin Bay which was only about 40km away. It is a nice little town with great
fishing apparently, one pub, one van park, a yatch club, a general store and a couple of cafĂ©’s
and a ‘Rawmeat Store’ (a butcher with a novel name).
We went on the Oyster Walk which takes you from the town
jetty for about 4km to Crinolin Point. It goes along the foreshore behind
houses all the way and is a worthwhile walk. Unfortunately the wind was blowing
hard again and it takes away from the beauty of the waterway. Ross and I walked
on quickly for the return trip as Linda’s foot was suffering and we went for
the vehicle. It rained a bit on the way home so we got wet.
That evening we had drinks with our friends, Bob and
Sherrie, and Mark and Lyn, who had arrived in Coffin Bay a couple of days
earlier. They were the two couples who we bumped into when we were looking at
the Koalas on Mikkira Station and who we had met two and a half years earlier
on the first big trip. They left the following morning but something tells me
we will see them again.
Friday we took a drive in the Coffin Bay National Park. We
found it to be more spectacular and stunning than the Lincoln National Park.
Probably because of the extra bit of ocean coastline with huge cliffs and
islands off the mainland that you get to see easily.
Just before Point Avoid area.
Almonta Beach.
Point Avoid
That night we went to the 'Pub in the Scrub' for happy hour and dinner and the duo. We all enjoyed dinner and the duo, who were called, 'Liquid Lunch' were really good. It was a good night.
