WA Wilflowers & Trip to Karijini

Saturday the 5th of September we left Port Hedland to go to Karijini National Park. The drive turned out to be one of the best we have ever done. All of it was just desert but there were wildflowers galore. The plains gave way to ranges and we climbed to a plateau which was very large. The two rest areas we stopped at especially the one we overnighted at were amazing.

Now I am not a flower loving kind of guy usually but even I was impressed when we stopped at the Bea Bea Rest Area for lunch and saw all these Sturt Desert Peas and and other flowers. The rest area had its own mini gorges and beautiful gum trees and creek.

The road trip was full of beautiful scenery, rusty ranges, wildflowers and wildlife.

By about 3pm or a bit after we came to the Albert Tongolini Rest Area. It was only about 50 kms short of our destination but the photos should indicate why we chose to stay there for the night. Many fellow travelers told us that they also stayed there for the same reason.

If you zoom in to this photo a lot you will see our van and vehicle on the right hand side.
