Lake Argyle 2

On Sunday the 7th June we found a site we wanted to move to which was vacated that morning. The previous site was under a gum tree and we were not comfortable with that. So we moved with a minimum of fuss and we wound up with great neighbours, a lovely couple from Brisbane who had four and a half weeks to travel in a hired troopy (Greg & Therese) and a couple from near Melbourne doing a similar trek to us (Kay & Doug).

That afternoon we went on the sunset cruise on Lake Argyle. The water is so blue and clear and surrounded by red hills.

There are thousands of freshwater crocs.

These photos show a bit of the vastness of the lake. You can hardly see the shore on the far sides, just like the ocean. The lake currently holds 19 times the volume of water that Sydney harbor holds. It is capable of holding about 40 times the volume.

The hills are gorgeous around sunset.

We stopped for a swim at sunset and a couple of beers. The staff throw beers out to you in the water while you are held buoyant by foam noodles.

Sunset photos on the water on the way back.

It was a lovely cruise, worth the money.
